Teratorn Tierra 1. (1983). Designed by Dale Kjellsen. Single seat, high wing monoplane with pusher engine and cruciform tail. Cable braced aluminum tube and sailcloth construction. 3-Axis control system. Single surface, wire braced wing. Taildragger landing gear. Sold by kit that requires 25-30 hr. construction time. Height 5' 6", length 18’8”, wing span 31.5', wing area 155 sq/ft. 28 hp Rotax 277 pusher engine. Cruise speed 50 mph, stall speed 24 mph and climb rate 600 fpm. Empty weight 251 lbs. Payload 250 lbs. Texas Parasol. Modern variant of Heath Parasol. Designed by Chuck Beeson and Richard Lamb as easy and inexpensive to build. Constructed of 6061-T6 extruded aluminum angle with AD470 driven rivets for the fuselage. Wings are foam ribs over aluminum tubes with full span ailerons. Also called the ‘ChuckBird’. Single seat, open cockpit monoplane with strut braced parasol wing. 1600 cc VW tractor powered engine. Cruise speed 60 mph. Wing span 26’. Wing area 125 sq/ft. Empty weight 250-300 lbs. Thor T/A.  (Can. 85). Designed by Thorsten B. Strenger (or Gunter Webster?), the Thor T-1 was available as a kit from Thor Air of Weston, Ontario. Single seat high wing with tractor engine. Aluminum tube and sailcloth construction. 3-Axis control. 80% double surface, strut braced wing. Taildragger landing gear with steerable tailwheel. Thruster 85. (Aus, 1983). Steve Cohen design which succeeds the Stolaero, Condor and Avenger microlights.  Unusual wing that folds inside the double surface skins for ease of transport.  Wing span 25.5’, wing area 135 sq/ft. Length 17.4’, height 6.2’. Single-seat with tractor engine. Steerable tailwheel. Double surface strut braced hi-wing monoplane. Empty weight 298 lbs. Thunder Gull  2000. (U.S., 1976). Designed by Mark Beierle. Single seat high wing with 28 hp Hirth F33 engine pusher engine. Length 18’3”, height 5’3”, Wing span 20’, wing area 95 sq/ft. Cruise speed 63 mph and stall speed 27 mph. Rate of climb 700 fpm. Empty weight 248 lbs. Payload 300 lbs. Load factors +5.9 Gs and -3 Gs. Glide ratio 11.8:1. The Soaring Gull 2000 is an upgrade of wing span and wing area and an empty weight of 254 lbs. Two other models J and JT2 are available in the single seat configuration. Titan. (No info available).

 

 

Tomcat H.M. 81.  Originally from Waspair, a British company, Some confusion about designer. Credits found for Chip Erwin, Larry Whiting and Robin Haynes. Single seat with pusher engine and first flown in 1980. High wing on top of V-shaped rudders. Canard front wing. Double surface wing, Tricycle landing gear with steerable nosewheel. 30 hp Cuyuna engine. Cruise speed 40 mph, stall speed 19 mph, rate of climb 500 fpm. Wing span 30', wing area 175 sq/ft. Load factors +6 Gs and -4 Gs. Glide ratio 8:1. Ungainly and unstable. Came in Standard, Sport and Tourer (aircamper, two seat) models. Midwest Microlites. Topa Scout (83). Designed by Cris Spangenberg. Single seat with pusher engine. Aluminum tube and sailcloth construction. Hybrid control system. Double surface, wire braced wing. Tyro MkII. (Aus. 81). Designed by Geoff Eastwood. Derived from Winton's Jackaroo according to Arthur Armour. Original engine was a 50 hp 440 cc Fuji Robin in the MkI. Strut braced hi-wing monoplane.
